With just two days to go before fight night, the time for talking is almost up for Nonito Donaire Jr. and Jessie Magdaleno.
At the pre-fight press conference at the Wynn in Las Vegas however, the two fighters unloaded some verbal jabs before actually throwing real jabs inside the ring on November 5th.
"I hope he comes with his A-game," said the brash young Magdaleno at the presser. "because we're gonna rip his head off for this one."
The defending champion Donaire, who puts his WBO super bantamweight belt on the line, responded with a Haka-like war chant, simply screaming "VICTORY!"
And while the little battle cry drew laughter from the audience as well as the Magdaleno camp, the four-division world champion explained his actions to ABS-CBN's Steve Angeles.
"Ano ba sasabihin ko" Yung sasabihin ko lahat dun sa ring."
What's the point of speaking with your mouth when you're in the ring, you're speaking with your hands." Donaire added.
For his part, the challenger was more amused, than intimidated with Donaire's statement.
"I laughed about it. He's making himself look like a fool, he comes out here and I don't know who he's cheerleading for, but it's a business."
Magdaleno continued, implying that he'll be ending Donaire on November 5th.
"We're here to do work. We're here to give people a great show. If people think that's a great show, he can become a cheerleading coach after he's done Saturday night."
Donaire and Magdaleno throw down for the WBO super bantamweight belt on Saturday, November 5th (Sunday, November 6th, Manila time) at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.
