Former champ Alfaro motivated to make late father proud
"The only way for him to be motivated to fight is to continue to come to the Philippines and make his father proud, especially with winning the fight."

Former world champion Jose Alfaro was booked to take on Jason Pagara for quite a while now, but tragedy struck as his father passed away, Saturday. 

While his father had already been ill for some time and Alfaro had was already on his way to the Philippines when it happene. 

It could have been easy for Alfaro to pull out of the match, but instead he decided to push through in memory of his late father. 

"My father would have been very pleased, that I continue the fight," Alfaro told ABS-CBN Sports through a translator. "My father has great pride in me." 

The Nicaraguan former WBA world lightweight champion added that making his father proud became the main motivation to push through with the bout. 

"The only way for him to be motivated to fight is to continue to come to the Philippines and make his father proud, especially with winning the fight."
