Milan Melindo and Fahlan Sakkreerin Jr. battle for the interim IBF world light flyweight championship at Pinoy Pride 39: Road to Redemption
The "Boxing Mecca" of the Philippines", Cebu City, will once again play host to another sure-to-be action-packed night of fights, as Pinoy Pride 39: Road to Redemption goes down this Saturday, November 26th at the Cebu Coliseum.
Headlining the stacked card will be an interim IBF world light flyweight title affair between #5-ranked Milan "El Metodico" Melindo (34-2-0, 12 KO) of the Philippines and #3-ranked Fahlan Sakkreerin Jr. (31-4-1, 16 KO) of Thailand.
For Melindo, this will be his third attempt at a world title after falling short in his previous two opportunities. Redemption will be on the 28-year old Melindo's mind, as after all the recent setbacks he's faced in his career, he hopes to prove that he is indeed capable of becoming a world champion.
Sakkreerin on the other hand, will be fighting outside of Thailand for only the fourth time in his career, and will look to show to the world that he's ranked third in the division for a reason.
The winner of this match will be the next contender to reigning IBF world light flyweight champion Akira Yaegashi.
In the co-main event, #1-ranked WBO light welterweight contender Jason "El Niño" Pagara (39-2-0, 24 KO) of the Philippines looks to extend his impressive winning streak to 13 straight bouts when he meets former WBA world lightweight champion Jose "Quiebra Jicara" Alfaro (28-10-1, 24 KO) of Nicaragua.
Jason Pagara has been unbeaten since late-2011, and continues to work hard to earn himself a title shot. Pagara says that he'll continue to keep working and keep winning until the opportunity for a world championship presents itself.
Looking to reclaim his past glory, Jose Alfaro will try to snap out of his current slump, wherein he's only won once in his last four bouts.
In the featured bout of the evening, "Prince" Albert Pagara (26-1-0, 18 KO) of the Philippines will make his much-awaited return to the ring against Ghana's Raymond Commey (16-3-0, 9 KO).
Redemption will also be on the mind of "Prince" Albert, as he steps into the ring for the first time since suffering his first career loss to Mexico's Cesar Juarez last July. Armed with a new outlook and a new respect for the sport, the 22-year old prospect is back, and is out to prove that he's ready to be better than before.
The winner of 14 of his last 15 contests, Commey fights outside of Ghana for only the second time in his career, and looks to introduce himself to the world, and he'll try to do it by taking out one of the Philippines' most exciting young prospects in Pagara.
Also on the card, ALA Boxing Promotions' young guns take to the ring as Jeo "Santino" Santisima, Jimmy "Popeye" Paypa, Melvin "Gringo" Jerusalem, Kevin Jake "KJ" Cataraja, and Virgel Vitor will all be seeing action in the undercards.
