2017 could finally be the year that boxing fans get to see what many are calling a dream fight in Manny Pacquiao versus Terence Crawford.
But it's gonna come at a hefty price, for Bob Arum and Top Rank Boxing, at least.
“If it’s Crawford that Top Rank wants for Manny Pacquiao, then we’ll fight Crawford,” longtime Pacquiao adviser Michael Koncz said via BoxingScene.com's Keith Idec.
Koncz however added, that they'd only do it for a price. How's $20 million (P1,000,0000,000) sound?
No, seriously, how's $20 million sound? Because that's what the Pacquiao camp is asking for a fight with "Bud".
The 39-year old Pacquiao is coming off a WBO welterweight title win over Jessie Vargas last November, in his return from 'retirement'.
Considered as one of the pound-for-pound best in the game today, the 29-year old Crawford (30-0-0, 21 KO) poses as one of the most intriguing fights for Manny, as he currently holds the WBO and WBC light welterweight titles.
Crawford, who recently disposed of John Molina Jr, has long called for a fight with the world champion Senator, and reiterated his wish after stopping Molina in eight rounds last December, but ultimately said that it's all up to Arum.
As for Pacquiao, Koncz said that whatever unfolds for the eight-division world champ, his next fight needs to happen in April to work around the schedule of the Philippine Senate.
“If it’s Crawford that Top Rank wants for Manny Pacquiao, then we’ll fight Crawford,” Koncz said. “But we want a guarantee of $20 million.” - See more at: http://www.boxingscene.com/pacquiao-wants-20-million-guarantee-fight-crawford-says-koncz--112298#sthash.5IfQLNJm.dpuf
