With roughly less than two months to go before fight night, eight-division world champion and reigning WBO welterweight king Manny Pacquiao has ramped up his training, of course brining in long-time head coach Fredde Roach to oversee training camp for his title defense against Australia's Jeff Horn in Brisbane.
Facing a relative unknown in Horn (16-0-1, 11 KO), it's important not to underestimate the unbeaten Aussie's capabilites, and Roach has made sure to study the former Olympian's game and what he brings to the table.
"This guy can punch," Roach told ABS-CBN's Dyan Castillejo via interview. "He's knocked out his last few opponents,"
Roach went on to pinpoint a certain aspect of Horn's game that they've focused on, especially that it's given Pacquiao some problems before.
"He's dangerous with the right, he's has a real good right hook, and that's something that Manny's been hit with before."
"We're fixing all that now, and it won't be a concern by fight time." Roach added.
Pacquiao (59-6-2, 38 KO) will be putting his WBO title up for grabs for the first time in this current run, and when asked what the Pinoy boxing icon needed to do to come away victorious, Roach kept it simple.
"He needs to use his speed, his footwork, and his boxing ability."
Pacquiao and Horn go head to head on July 2nd at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.
