Newly-crowned IBF Light Flyweight champion Milan Melindo gets a hero's welcome back home in Cebu.
Fresh off his scintillating first-round knockout of former champion Akira Yaegashi in Japan, the newly-crowned IBF light flyweight champion Milan "El Metodico" Melindo made his way back home to the Philippines, specifially, Cebu, and was given a hero's welcome by his teammates, friends and the Cebu media.
Melindo, 29, is a native of Cagayan de Oro, but now resides in Cebu, where he trains with the famed ALA Boxing Gym, alongside the likes of three-division world champion Donnie "Ahas" Nietes, Mark Magsayo, the Pagara brothers Albert and Jason, and many other talented Pinoy boxers.
It has been a long journey for Melindo to the title, having come up short in his two previous attempts at world championship gold. Now, the man they call "El Metodico" gets to enjoy the fruits of his labor.
