IBF Light Flyweight Champion Milan Melindo already has a title defense booked.
Just roughly a month removed from his inspiring title win in Japan, newly-crowned IBF Light Flyweight Champion Milan "El Metodico" Melindo already has a defense date booked.
ALA Promotions, who manages Melindo, announced Thursday that the new champ will be defending his title at Pinoy Pride 42 this coming September 16th at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu City.
Melindo's challenger has not yet been named.
The 29-year old Melindo (36-2, 13 KO), shocked everyone at the Ariake Stadium in Japan last May by knocking out the highly-popular Akira Yaegashi in just two minutes and 45 seconds to become the new IBF Light Flyweight world champion.
He joins the likes of reigning WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, IBF Super Flyweight Champion Jerwin Ancajas, and IBF Flyweight Champion Donnie Nietes as current Pinoy boxing world champions.
