Mark Magsayo and Daniel Diaz battle for the WBO International Featherweight Championship in the main event of Pinoy Pride 41: New Generation Warriors
Welcome to the new generation.
Pinoy boxing's brightest young stars are set to take center stage at Pinoy Pride 41: New Generation Warriors, Saturday evening at the IEC Convention Center in Mabolo City, Cebu.
Making his main event debut will be unbeaten ALA Boxing standout Mark "Magnifico" Magsayo as he defends his WBO International Featherweight championship against veteran Daniel "El General" Diaz of Nicaragua.
Considered as the next big thing in Pinoy boxing, the 22-year old Magsayo (16-0, 12 KO) has been smashing opponents left and right, and now that he's earned a spot in the top-bill of a Pinoy Pride card, he intends to use it as a platform to show that he's deserving of bigger fights and even world championship gold.
A veteran of over 30 fights, Nicaragua's Diaz (23-7-2, 15 KO) is looking to rejuvenate his career at 33 years of age. A former WBA world title contender, Diaz will try to dethrone Magsayo and claim his first WBO championship.
In the co-main event, another ALA Boxing rising star in Jeo "Santino" Santisima, who faces unbeaten Tanzanian Goodluck Mrema in a super-bantamweight contest.
A staple in Pinoy Pride undercards for a while now, Santisima (13-2, 11 KO) has impressed enough to move himself up in the cards, and will now make his co-main event debut. In his last outing, Santisima dominated Indonesian Master Suro, and will hope to do the same to his undefeated opponent.
Boasting a perfect 16-0 record with fifty percent of his wins coming via knockout, Mrema will be fighting outside Tanzania for the first time in his career, and will look to keep his slate spotless against a surging Santisima.
In a featured super-bantamweight contest, "Prince" Albert Pagara makes his return to the squared circle after half a year off as he takes on Thailand's Patomsith Pathompothong.
Also on the card, ALA Boxing young guns Melvin "Gringo" Jerusalem and Kevin Jake "KJ" Cataraja will be seeing action.
