IBF light-flyweight king Milan Melindo defends his title against a former world champion at Pinoy Pride 42 this September
Newly-crowned IBF Light-Flyweight Champion Milan "El Metodico" Melindo will be putting his title up for grabs for the first time later this year when he meets challenger Hector "Hekkie" Budler at Pinoy Pride 42 in Cebu.
The 29-year old Melindo (36-2-0, 13 KO) is coming off a scintillating knockout win over Akira Yaegashi in Japan to claim his first world championship.
The Cagayan De Oro native is currently riding a four-fight win streak and has won seven of his last eight contests.
Standing opposite Melindo inside the ring will be Johannesburg, South Africa's Budler, who possesses an impressive 31-2-0 professional record with ten wins coming via KO.
The 29-year old is no stranger to championship gold, as he's held world titles in the IBO and WBA minimumweight divisions, as well as in the IBO light flyweight division.
Winning 14 of his last 15 outings, "The Hexecutioner" is coming off a stoppage win over Pinoy Joey Canoy to reclaim the vacant IBO 112-pound title.
Coincidentally, Canoy is coming off a 12-round Unanimous Decision win over Melindo's ALA Promotions stablemate Melvin Jerusalem at Pinoy Pride 41, which was also recently held in Cebu.
Pinoy Pride 42 is scheduled for September 16th at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu City.
