"It’s a challenge.
The IBF Light-Flyweight championship main event of Pinoy Pride 42 between Milan Melindo and Hekkie Budler was briefly put in jeopardy when champion Melindo missed weight in his first attempt on the scale during Friday's weigh-ins.
The 29-year old Cagayan de Oro native and ALA Boxing Gym product came in at 109.75-pounds, more than a pound over the 108-pound limit.
Melindo was given two hours to shed off the weight, and managed to do so thanks to some time in the sauna room, coming in at 108-pounds on the dot about an hour later.

After the weigh-ins, Melindo shared with ABS-CBN Sports that he found it surprising that he didn't make weight on the first try, given that he had already gotten down to 108-pounds before the official weigh-ins.
"I was two pounds over before the weigh-ins, then nakuha ko na yun kasi nag-sauna ako. I’m just curious why I didn’t get the weight when I went to the scale today. I know there’s something behind it." Melindo said.
He continued, saying that he feels like it was a test from the man above. "I think God challenged me and how I’m eager to defend my title and how eager I am to win this fight. I think God is behind all these things."
'El Metodico' also shared that on his way back down to the scale, he spoke to God and left it all in His hands.
Fortunately for the reigning champion, he managed to get his weight down. Had he failed to do so, he would have been stripped of his IBF championship and would have to give up half of his fight purse.
It’s a challenge.
If anything, Melindo added that this only motivates him to perform even better come fight night on Saturday.
South African challenger Hekkie Budler made weight on the first try.
