Cebu-based boxing stable ALA Promotions added more up-and-coming talent to their roster of stars after signing Filipino-Japanese amateur boxing sensation Go Hosaka to a long-term deal.
The 21-year old Hosaka, whose mother is of Filipino descent, boasts an amateur record of 55-10, with successful stints in the Asian Boxing Championship in Thailand and AIBA Youth World Boxing Championship in Bulgaria, while placing fourth during the Summer Youth Olympics held in Nanjing, China, all in 2014.
Later that year, Hosaka claimed gold in Japan’s National Boxing Tournament.
A life-long martial artist, Hosaka is also a black belter in Karate, an art he started taking up when he was four years old.
At 14, Hosaka began his amateur boxing career, and the rest is history.
“I see a lot of strong fighters from ALA, and I hope to become one of them. Boxing is my passion and one day I want to be a formidable world champion like my idols Manny Pacquiao and Vasyl Lomachenko.” Hosaka said. “My family and I believe I could achieve my goals through ALA,”
Hosaka will join the likes of three-division world champion and reigning IBF flyweight champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes, reigning IBF junior flyweight champion Milan “El Metodico” Melindo, unbeaten rising superstar Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo, top contender Jonas “Zorro” Sultan, the Pagara brothers Jason and Albert, and Kevin Jake Cataraja.
““He is what we are looking for; he has an outstanding amateur record, and shows a lot of promise,” said ALA head trainer and matchmaker Edito Villamor.
“It has always been ALA Promotions’ thrust to elevate Philippine Boxing through showcasing local talent in the international stage, and we want to continue doing just that, help these young talents reach their dreams, “ added ALA Promotions CEO Michael Aldeguer.
Expect Hosaka to make his debut in the Pinoy Pride boxing series very soon.
