Two days after his arrival in Japan, reigning and defending IBF junior flyweight world champion Milan 'El Metodico' Melindo held an open workout ahead of his upcoming world title unification bout against hometown favorite and reigning WBA junior flyweight world champion Ryoichi Taguchi.
Melindo held his open workout at the Watanabe Boxing Gym in Tokyo, and members of the media were on hand to watch the Pinoy ALA Boxing standout get some work in, just days away from arguably the biggest fight of his storied career.
The 29-year old Melindo is coming off a close split decision title defense win over South Africa's Hekkie Budler in Cebu, while Taguchi is coming off his sixth successful title defense with a TKO win over Robert Barrera.
On New Year's Eve, Melindo and Taguchi put their world titles on the line in a winner-take-all unification bout at the Ota-City Central Gymnasium in Tokyo.
