It's official.

Filipino five-division boxing world champion Nonito 'The Filipino Flash' Donaire will be taking the next step on his road back to the upper echelon of the boxing world when he faces fellow former world champion Carl 'The Jackal' Frampton.

Making a number of changes following his loss to Jesse Magdaleno in 2016, Donaire Jr. signed with fledgeling promotion Ringstar Sports and returned to the boxing ring, defeating Reuben Garcia Hernandez in 2017, winning via unanimous decision and capturing the WBC Silver Featherweight championship.

With his eyes set on the world's best 126-pounders, he faces a step back up in competition against Ireland's Frampton.

Frampton went unbeaten in his first 22 contests, which included world title wins and defenses in the super bantamweight and featherweight ranks.

In 2017, Frampton found himself on the losing end of a decision for the first time in his career, falling to Leo Santa Cruz in their WBA Super World Featherweight title rematch.

Frampton bounced back with a decision win over Horacio Garcia, and now turns his attention to a bigger name in Donaire Jr.

A win for either men could catapult them back into the world title picture.

Donaire and Frampton throw down on Saturday, April 21st at the SSE Arena in Belfast.
