On January 27th, a couple of Pinoy warriors will be representing the country into battle at The Forum in Los Angeles, California.
Cebuano Mercito 'No Mercy' Gesta gets another shot at world title gold when he challenges Jorge Linares for the WBA lightweight world title, while up-and-coming Cotabato native 'Ruthless' Romero Duno tries to continue climbing up the ranks when he meets Yardley Suarez in the main card.
For Gesta, who's on the co-main event, it's quite a big deal to be able to represent the country on a big stage.
"Excited kasi dalawang Pilipino na mag-rerepresenta sa Pilipinas, ako tsaka si Duno." Gesta told ABS-CBN's Steve Angeles at the Filipinos' open workout.
"Bilib ako kay Duno, malakas." Gesta added.
And while the more-experienced Gesta has all the faith in the up-and-coming fellow Golden Boy boxer, Duno says that he still has some pre-fight jitters.
"Medyo kinakabahan parin. Hindi naman mawawala yun pero, okay lang kasi nag-ensayo na kami. Gagawin ko lahat para maipakita yung ine-expect nila."
Duno and Suarez are set for an eight-round affair at lightweight.
