A little over a month away from their respective title bouts, reigning IBF flyweight world champion Donnie 'Ahas' Nietes and Fil-American four-time world champion Brian 'The Hawaiian Punch' Viloria got some sparring in at the famed Wild Card Boxing Gym in Los Angeles, California.
Nietes will be defending his title against Juan Carlos Reveco of Argentina, on the same night as Viloria challenges for the vacant WBA flyweight world title against unbeaten Artem Dalakian of Ukraine.
The Pinoy flyweights, who both sparred six rounds each, shared the ring for three rounds, according to ABS-CBN News' Steve Angeles.
"Masaya masaya kasi naka-balik ako mag-training dito, and syempre masaya din ako kasi nakatulong din ako kay Brian," Nietes told Angeles. "Katulong sya sa akin mag-sparring so nag tutulungan kami sa isa't-isa ngayon."
Viloria was nothing short of thrilled to be working with Nietes as well.
"You gotta be with the best, train with the best if you wanna be the best, and Donnie is a great fighter. He’s a great champion himself."
"It’s a great feeling to be able to work with a champion like Donnie." Viloria added.
Nietes and Viloria will both be fighting on 360 Promotions and HBO's Superfly 2 card scheduled for February 24th at The Forum in Los Angeles, California.
