Filipino lightweight title challenger Mercito "No Mercy" Gesta successfully made weight for his WBA lightweight title shot against reigning champion Jorge Linares of Venezuela on Saturday, January 27th at The Forum in Los Angeles, California.
The Cebuano challenger Gesta came in at 134.8-pounds, while the champion Linares tipped the scales at 135-pounds, making Saturday's title bout official.
This will be Gesta's second crack at a world championship after coming up short for the IBF lightweight title back in 2012, the lone loss in his 34-bout career.
Linares will be making the fourth defense of his WBA title.
Cotabato's up-and-coming star "Ruthless" Romero Duno also made weight for his undercard bout against Mexican Yardley Armenta Cruz.
Duno tipped the scales at 135-pounds, while Armenta Cruz came in at 133.6-pounds.
