Another title defense, another masterful performance from ‘Pretty Boy’ Jerwin Ancajas.
Saturday night at the Bank of America Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, Ancajas made an impressive United States debut, stopping Mexico’s Israel Gonzalez in the tenth round via TKO to retain his IBF Super Flyweight world championship.
It didn’t take long for Ancajas to display his power, dropping Gonzalez in just under a minute.
The Mexican challenger survived and managed to get more aggressive as the rounds went on.
Ancajas however did a good job of sticking and moving, peppering Gonzalez with stiff jabs to the head and body while getting out of the Mexican’s line of fire.
In the tenth round, Ancajas stunned Gonzalez with a short hook and then followed up with a stiff left straight to put the challenger down for a second time in the match.
Gonzalez made his way back to his feet, but Ancajas put him back down just moments later with another solid left to put the very game challenger away.
The referee called the match at the 1:50 mark of the tenth round.
Ancajas improves to 29-1-1 in his professional career as he picks up his sixteenth straight victory and his fourth straight title defense, all of which coming via stoppage.
