Golden Boy Promotions founder Oscar De La Hoya has confirmed that eight-division world champion Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao will be challenging reigning WBA welterweight world champion Lucas Mathysse this coming July 15th in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

"Proud to officially announce that WBA welterweight world champion Lucas Mathysse will put his title on the line against Manny Pacquiao in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Saturday night, July 14 (US time)" De La Hoya's tweet read.

Mathysse is a Golden Boy promoted boxer.

Pacquiao also took to social media an hour later with his own reaction to the announcement.

"It's on. Can't wait to challenge Lucas Mathysse for another world title on July 15 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia," Pacquiao's tweet read.

Reports surfaced in early March that Pacquiao had already chosen to fight Mathysse, with his initial choices being between the Argentinian WBA champion and former two-division world champion Danny Garcia and the target date being June 24th.

Pacquiao is coming off a WBO welterweight world title loss to Jeff Horn in Australia back in July of 2017.

Mathysse is coming off an eighth-round KO win over Thailand's Tewa Kiram to claim the vacant WBA world title just this past January.
