Team Mathysse: Manny Pacquiao's time is over
“But this is Mathysse’s time, Manny Pacquiao’s time is over.”

While he may be the defending champion, Lucas Mathysse could easily be considered as the underdog heading into his title defense against eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao.

The 35-year old Argentinian may be younger than the 39-year old Pacquiao, but experience heavily favors the Pinoy boxing legend.

During the pre-fight press conference for the Fight of Champions card however, Team Mathysse made it clear that they weren’t there to be fed to the Filipino boxing superstar.

“We’re not going to Malaysia just to give up the title, we’re going to Malaysia so we can win the fight, and we’re gonna work very hard to win the fight.” said Lucas Mathysse’s manager Mario Arano. “The boxing world knows who exactly Lucas Mathysse is.”

Pacquiao will be the biggest name on Mathysse’s professional record, and the Argentinian’s camp is fully aware of the magnitude of this upcoming bout.

“We know that we’re up against one of the greatest fighters ever in the world, he’s won so many titles, fought throughout the world and has been on every TV network you can think of,”

Going up against the biggest challenge of his career, Mathysse and his team had a clear message for the Filipino legend.

“But this is Mathysse’s time, Manny Pacquiao’s time is over.”

Pacquiao, who praised Mathysse exciting and aggressive style, had a pretty simple response, while also making it clear that he’s out to stop the Argentinian champion.

“My time is not done yet, Manny Pacquiao’s time is not done yet. I will not predict this fight, but I will do my best to win convincingly, and if I have a chance to finish it right away, I will finish it.”

Mathysse wil be defending his WBA Welterweight World title against Pacquiao in the main event of Fight of Champions, which takes place at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Sunday, July 15th.
