While we're just days away from the highly-anticipated and historic all-Filipino world title bout between Jerwin Acajas and Jonas Sultan, but Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum is already looking ahead.
Champion Ancajas and challenger Sultan are set to do battle for the IBF Super Flyweight World Championship, which Ancajas has held since 2016.
Arum believes that the two Pinoy warriors are set to put on a show for the fans in Fresno, California
"I think they’re going to fight 'til the end." Arum said, via ABS-CBN's Jeremiah Ysip. "These are two really prideful fighters, neither of them are gonna quit, and it’s going to be a battle to the end."
According to Arum, he's looking at putting the winner of the Ancajas-Sultan tilt against the winner of the WBA Super Flyweight World Championship bout between titleholder Khalid Yafai and challenger David Carmona.
The WBA title bout will serve as the co-main event in Fresno on Saturday.
"In three months from now, we hope to bring the winner of this fight back to fight the winner of the WBA 115-pound [title] which is on the same card."
Expect that to add even more motivation for Ancajas and Sultan, who have been more than honored to be part of Filipino boxing history.
"Excited na ako na i-entertain ang mga kababayan sa Fresno," said Ancajas.
"I feel this fight, I’ve dreamed in my life to become a world champion. I’m really thankful for this opportunity. First time I come to the US and I’m fighting for a world championship." added Sultan.
The two Pinoys will throw down at the Save Mart Arena in Fresno.
