Boxing: Albert Pagara dominates Odoi to reclaim WBO title
Albert Pagara is once again the WBO Intercontinental Super Bantamweight Champion

Total Domination.

In front of a hometown crowd in Maasin, Southern Leyte, ALA Boxing star ‘Prince’ Albert Pagara stopepd Ghana’s Laryea Gabriel Odoi in three rounds to reclaim the WBO Intercontinental Super Bantamweight Championship in the main event of Pinoy Pride 44: Laban sa Leyte, Saturday evening at the Maasin City Gym.

Coming out confident and loose, Pagara battered Odoi throughout the first two rounds of action, dropping the Ghanaian on multiple occasions.

In the third round, Pagara pressured Odoi into the corner with a couple of body shots, eventually forcing the Ghanaian’s corner to throw in the towel in with thirty seconds remaining in the round.

The stoppage came in at the 2:30 mark of round three, with Pagara reclaiming the title he lost to Cesar Juarez back in 2016.

“Nagpapasalamat ako sa whole Maasin City, sa pagsuporta nila sa Pinoy Pride at sa Pagara Brothers,” Pagara said after the match. “Grabe yung confidence ko, nanalo ako sa laban, nakuha ko yung belt, ang sarap sa feeling na maging champion,”

The 24-year old Pagara improves to 30-1 in his professional career with 21 wins coming via KO or TKO and handing Odoi his first loss via stoppage.

Also leaving Pinoy Pride 44 with a championship is up-and-coming ALA Boxing super bantamweight Jeo ‘Santino’ Santisima after stopping Thailand’s Likit Chan-e in the third round to become the new WBO Oriental Super Bantamweight Champion.

Chan-e hung tough in the first two rounds, keeping his head down and pushing the action while trading shots with the Pinoy.

Midway through round three however, Santisima unloaded a combination that Chan-e out on his feet, forcing the referee to step in and save the Thai from further damage.

The official stoppage came in at 1:43 of the third round, giving Santisima his first boxing championship.

“Masaya ako na nabigay sa akin itong pangarap ko na matagal ko nang hinintay, ngayon binigay na sa akin ng Diyos,” an ecstatic Santisima said after the bout. “Sobrang saya.”

Also scoring wins at Pinoy Pride 44 were former world title contender “King” Arthur Villanueva, who defeated fellow Pinoy Renren Tesorio via TKO in the seventh round, and Jason “El Niño” Pagara, who defeated Indonesian Wellem Reyk via KO in the third round.
