Pinoy Vic Saludar becomes WBO Minimumweight World Champion

The Philippines gained another world champion in boxing, as Cotabato-born 'Vicious' Vic Saludar outpointed hometown bet Ryuya Yamanaka to in Kobe, Japan, Friday evening to become the new WBO Minimumweight World Champion.
Saludar bucked a slow start to control the pace of the fight after the second round.
The Pinoy iced the victory in the seventh round after dropping the champion with a solid straight right.
After 12 rounds of action, the judges saw the fight in favor of Saludar, 116-111, 117-110, 115-112.
Saludar, a veteran of the Pinoy Pride boxing series, improves his career record to 18 wins and 3 losses.
The 23-year old makes good on his second attempt at world championship gold after losing his WBO Minimumweight World Championship bid against Kosei Tanaka back in 2015.
