Aside from super flyweight contenders Donnie ‘Ahas’ Nietes and Aston ‘Mighty’ Palicte, a third Filipino will be gunning for a world title as well on the upcoming SuperFly 3 card at The Forum in Los Angeles, California on September 8th.
Nietes and Palicte will be fighting for the vacant WBC Super Flyweight World Championship, while Filipino-Australian Louisa ‘Bang Bang Lulu” Hawton will be gunning for the vacant WBC Minimumweight Female World Championship against Mexican Brenda ‘La Bonita’ Flores.
Hawton is coming into the fight with an 8-1 professional record and is coming off a fourth-round KO win back in June.
“I feel good, I’ve been training and everything has been going great.” Hawton told ABS-CBN News’ Steve Angeles. “I’m so excited and pumped to put on a good show for everybody.”
Hawton has the opportunity to become a two-division world champion, having already held the WBO Light Flyweight Female World Championship back in 2016.
“At the end of the day, I think you just gotta focus on what you have to do and what you gotta bring to the table.” said Hawton, who’s currently training in El Monte, California. “It’ll all come together and we’ll figure it out and come up with a game plan but I just gotta focus on my strengths.”
For Hawton, putting in the work ahead of the bouts is all part of what makes the journey fun.
“I love training. I have a heap of fun and I love pushing myself. Every day I wake up I’ve got purposes and I’m excited to hit the road.” says the 33-year old.
