Two days away from the biggest fight of his life, Filipino boxer Aston Palicte is as cool and as calm as he can be.

One wouldn’t think that in just 48 hours, he’ll be sharing the ring with arguably one of the best Filipino boxers alive today.

On SuperFly 3, Saturday evening at The Forum in Los Angeles, Palicte battles three-division world champion and longest-reigning Filipino boxing world champion Donnie ‘Ahas’ Nietes for the vacant WBO Super Flyweight World Championship.

It will be Palicte’s first opportunity to challenge for a world championship, but the 27 year old native of Bago City, Negros exudes the confidence of someone who’s been here many times before.

Palicte shared with ABS-CBN’s Steve Angeles during the pre-fight presser.

Palicte credits his confidence to his team, who he says has given him nothing but the utmost focus and support leading up to the biggest fight of his career.

A win on Saturday, against a fighter the calibre of Nietes will definitely be the highlight of Palicte’s career so far, and with so much at stake for the young Roy Jones Jr-promoted talent, the pressure is present, but it’s not from the magnitude of the situation.

“Sa sarili ko, wala.” Palicte said.

Palicte adds that this has been his driving force ever since.

On the brink of what could be the biggest night of his life, Palicte is nothing but thankful of the people that have stood by him since the beginning.

“This is it.
