Milan Melindo comes up short against reigning WBC champions Ken Shiro in Japan.
Filipino boxer Milan 'El Metodico' Melindo fell short in his bid to capture the WBC Light Flyweight World championship after absorbing a seventh-round TKO loss to reigning titleholder Ken Shiro in Yokohama, Japan, Sunday evening.
Shiro, who remains unbeaten in 14 professional bouts, dominated Melindo through seven rounds of action, controlling the pace of the fight and having his way with the Filipino challenger.
Melindo suffered a cut in the seventh round that proved to be the beginning of the end, as Melindo was deemed unable to continue by the ringside doctor.
It was the fourth defeat for Melindo, who's coming off a failed attempt at the IBF and WBA titles back in December of 2017.
