Filipino boxer Aston "Mighty" Palicte was successful in his return to the ring, scoring a second-round TKO win over Puerto Rico's Jose Martinez in their WBO Super Flyweight World Championship eliminator bout, Thursday evening in California.
This was how @AstonPalicte closed out his big win. He floored Martinez for the third time, teed off, and the ref calls it. #PalicteMartinez he’s now the WBO’s #1 contender 🇵🇭👊🏼🥊 @ABSCBNNewsSport @abscbnsports @ABSCBNNews pic.twitter.com/B1wqcjHA6k— Steve Angeles (@StevieAngeles) February 1, 2019
With the win, Palicte earns the right to once again compete for the WBO Super Flyweight World Championship, currently held by Donnie "Ahas" Nietes.
Aside from the title shot however, it looks like Palicte has something else to look forward to.
Back in December, the 28-year old Bago City native was fortunate enought to be able to train with eight-division boxing world champion and reigning WBA (Regular) Welterweight World Champion Manny Pacquiao in the United States, as Pacquiao was getting ready to defend his title against Adrien Broner in Las Vegas.
Palicte shared that aside from boxing wisdom, Pacquiao also promised something else.

"Sabi niya, pag na-KO ko daw, may bonus ako sa kanya," Palicte shared with ABS-CBN's Steve Angeles.
When asked how much he was expecting, Palicte jokingly said that it was a secret between him and Pacquiao.
Pretty good way to start 2019 for Palicte.
