Boxing: Pinoy John Riel Casimero claims WBO Interim Bantamweight Championship

Filipino boxer John Riel " Quadro Alas" Casimero is once again a world champion after scoring a 12th round knockout over Mexican opponent Ricardo Espinoza to capture the vacant Interim WBO Bantamweight World Championship at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, Sunday afternoon, Manila time.
The 30-year old Casimero, who is a former IBF Flyweight World Champion, outworked Espinoza in the first five rounds of the contest, leading to a big knockdown in the sixth round.
The Ormoc, Leyte native secured the title with a 12th-round knockout, handing the previously-undefeated Mexican the first loss of his career.

With the win, Casimero becomes a three-division boxing world champion and joins the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Nonito Donaire Jr., Jerwin Ancajas, and Vic Saludar as current reigning Filipino world champions.
