Nonito Donaire Jr. will now meet Stephon Young instead of Zolani Tete in the World Boxing Super Series Bantamweight Tournament Semifinals in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Reigning WBA (Super) Bantamweight World Champion Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire of the Philippines will be getting a new opponent in the semifinals of the World Boxing Super Series semifinals in Lafayette, Louisiana on Saturday, April 27th (Sunday, April 28th, Manila time).
Originally scheduled to face reigning WBO Bantamweight World Champion Zolani Tete of South Africa, Donaire Jr. now faces American Stephon Young after a shoulder injury forced Tete out of the bout.
Donaire Jr., a four-division world champion, defeated Irishman Ryan Burnett in the opening round of the WBSS Bantamweight Tournament last November to capture the WBA title when Burnett went down with a back injury in the fourth round.

The 30-year old Young, a native of Lafayette, is the fifth-ranked WBA Bantamweight contender and comes in with an 18-1-3 professional record.
The winner of the Donaire Jr.-Young bout will face the winner of the other semifinal pairing between WBA (Regular) Bantamweight World Champion Naoya Inoue of Japan and IBF Bantamweight World Champion Emmanuel Rodriguez of Puerto Rico.
