IBF Super Flyweight World Champion Jerwin Ancajas meets number one contender Ryuichi Funai in Stockton, California.
Filipino boxing world champion Jerwin "Pretty Boy" Ancajas looks to continue his reign of dominance when he puts his IBF Super Flyweight World Chamionship on the line for the seventh against Japanse challenger Ryuichi Funai in Stockton, California this Saturday, May 4th (Sunday, May 5th, Manila time.)
The 27-year old Ancajas has lorded over the IBF's 115-pound division since 2016, and has since dispatched all challengers, including the likes of Jose Alfredo Rodriguez, Teiru Kinoshita, Jamie Conlan, and even compatriot Jonas Sultan.
Ancaja's 17-fight winning streak was snapped however, when he and Mexican Alejandro Santiago Barrios figured in a 116-112, 111-118, 114-114 Split Draw back in September of 2018.
Now, the Panabo, Davao del Norte-native looks to bounce back from that lackluster performance and return to his dominant ways.
Standing in front of him will be a longer and taller challenger in Japan's Funai.
The 33-year old Tokyo native is riding a wave of momentum as he heads into his first shot at a world championship on a seven-fight winning streak, with six of those wins coming via KO or TKO.
The number one-ranked IBF contender will be making his United States debut as he looks to dethrone the long-time Super Flyweight king.
