Keith Thurman isn't holding back in terms of pre-fight trash talk against upcoming challenger Manny Pacquiao.
The undefeated reigning WBA (Super) Welterweight World Champion Thurman defends his title against reigning WBA (Regular) Welterweight World Champion and eight-division world title holder Pacquiao at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, July 20th (Sunday, July 21st, Manila time).
The 30-year old Florida native has spoken about ending Pacquiao's career, making him disappear, and sending him back to the Philippines to stay as a senator.
In the Los Angeles leg of their pre-fight press conference, Thurman said that he plans on "crucifying" the eight-division legend.
"I’ve always seen Manny Pacquiao as a world-class fighter, not a world-class boxer, there’s a little bit of a difference," Thurman said in response to a question about having a higher fight IQ than Pacquiao. "It’s how you use the ring when you’re in the ring, some of the decisions, you’re gonna see, I’m gonna trip him up, he won’t know what direction to move into, he gonna be hoppin' over here, hoppin' over there..."
"At the end of the day, I know who I am as a fighter, and it will be proven come July. I know he likes to quote bible verses, so I'll let you know, he's getting crucified," he added.
Thurman also touched on Pacquiao's percieved advantage in experience and stated he represents a kind of boxer that the Pinoy champion has never seen before.
"This is a big fight, as far as the stage goes, but Pacquiao is a little fighter, it’s a big fight against a little guy, and he’s a veteran, I’ve dismantled veterans in the past, I’ve dismantled veterans throughout my whole career, I believe I would have destroyed Manny Pacquiao five years ago, when he was with Top Rank, so at the end of the day, I’ve always been ready for this fight."
"I’m a world class fighter. Manny’s never fought a fighter like me, who has the lateral movement, the speed, and the the power. He’s fought people that have speed, he’s fought people that have power, but not all at one, and he’s never fought somebody this young, this strong, this hungry, and I’m coming for him," he continued.
