For the most part, eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao has remained quiet amidst all the trash talk directed at him by Keith Thurman in the lead up to their welterweight world title bout this weekend in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao, the reigning WBA (Regular) Welterweight World Champion will be challenging the undefeated Thurman for the WBA (Super) Welterweight World Championship at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in one of the most highly-anticipated boxing matches of the year.
From the onset, the brash young Thurman already did his part of hyping the fight up by talking all manner of smack to Pacquiao, saying he would crucify him in the ring and retire him, among many other verbal jabs.
Pacquiao has maintained his composure and his go to response has been along the lines of "We'll see."
Pacquiao has also said that Thurman's words have served as motivation for him in training, and those closest to him will attest to that.
"Determined talaga yung ‘Fighting Senator'", said Pacquiao's close friend and trainer Buboy Fernandez. "Ever since talaga, yung mga hinahanap ko na galaw niya, yung gigil niya, this time, kalaban natin si Thurman, lumalabas eh, kasi nga yung sa mga binibitawan na salita ni Thurman."
Buboy continues by saying that Thurman's words have seemingly helped Pacquiao reach another level.
Throughout his storied career, Pacquiao has faced some of the biggest trash talkers in the business, including the likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr, and Adrien Broner.
Outside the ring, Buboy says, everyone talks a big game, but things get different once they step into the ring with the eight-division boxing world champion.
You've talked a lot, and now it's time to back it up, says Buboy.
As for Thurman's height experience, Buboy isn't sweating it at all.
Thurman will get the chance to back his words up this coming Saturday, July 20th (Sunday, July 21st, Manila time).
