Filipino boxing star "Prince" Albert Pagara was dominant in the main event of Pinoy Pride 46, Saturday evening at the Ormoc City Superdome in Ormoc, Leyte.
Pagara, a Maasin, Southern Leyte native, extended his streak of knockout wins to five straight in front of a partisan hometown crowd as he stopped Thai opponent Ratchanon "Lucky Tor Buamas" Sawangsoda in just the first round in the evening's marquee attraction.
The heavy-handed Pagara dropped Sawangsoda early in the opening round with a two-punch combo, capped off by a right straight that landed flush on the jaw. Sawangsoda managed to get back up, but was dropped again moments later, this time by a counter left hook.
Smelling blood in the water, the blonde-haired bomber overwhelmed Sawangsoda with a flurry of hooks to put him down for a third time.
Another vicious combination from Pagara put Sawangsoda down for a fourth and final time, forcing the referee to wave the bout off. The official stoppage time came at the 2:53 mark of the opening round.
The 25-year old improves to 32-1 in his career with 23 wins via KO.
In the co-main event, Jeo "Santino" Santisima was equally as dominant, as he dispatched Indonesia's Alvius Maufani in the first round.
Meanwhile in the undercards, former world title contenders Jonas "Zorro" Sultan and Melvin "Gringo" Jerusalem were both victorious, scoring a pair of seventh-round knockouts of Salatiel Amit and Reymark Taday.
