Nesthy Petecio couldn’t help but be impressed with how Kapamilya star Jane De Leon worked on her portrayal of the Filipina world champion boxer for a ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya?’ episode.
The 2019 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships and 30th Southeast Asian Games gold medalist praised De Leon’s dedication to learn the ropes of being a boxer.
The aspiring Olympian was surprised how quickly De Leon learned her signature boxing moves.
The pug admitted that she was surprised when MMK asked her to have her life story told in the longest-running drama anthology in the country. Having De Leon, named as the next actress to play Pinay superhero Darna, to portray her was even bigger surprise for Petecio.
“Opo sobra (ang gulat),” she said.
Petecio gushed.
The #MMKPangarapAtKamao episode also stars Jana Agoncillo as young Nesthy, Bembol Roco as Titing, Michael Roy Jornales as boxing coach Roel Velasco and Mara Lopez as boxer Annie Albania under the direction of Elfren Vibar.
MMK airs every Saturday at 8:30 p.m. on ABS-CBN Channel 2.
