Substitute Patrick Reichelt scored a brace to lead the Philippine Azkals to a 4-1 win over Laos in the 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup.
The Philippine Men's National Football Team needed an early wake-up call before recovering and earning a dominant 4-1 victory over Laos to open its campaign in the 2014 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup at the My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi, Vietnam on Saturday.
Laos went ahead 1-0 after striker Khampeng Sayavutthi's free kick bounced off the post for a goal in the 20th minute.
The Azkals though would level the match in the 40th minute after Manny Ott's corner kick found Simone Rota who headed the ball into the goal.
The Philippines would then seize the upper hand seconds into injury time of the first as captain Phil Younghusband scored his 41st international goal on a header.
Younghusband would then turn into a facilitator in the second half as he served the ball to a waiting Patrick Reichelt, who made it 3-1 in the 77th minute.
Two minutes before the final whistle, Younghusband would once again connect with Reichelt as the substitute completed a brace for the Azkals most lopsided victory in the final stage of the tournament.
With the win, the Azkals earn three points and the early lead in Group A after a 2-2 draw between host Vietnam and Indonesia.
The Philippines will next take on Indonesia on Tuesday.
