It looks like Thomas Dooley will be calling the shots for the Azkals up until 2017.
According to reports, the former Team USA captain was offered a two-year contract renewal by thr Philippine Football Federation to stay on as the head coach of the Philippine National football team. Dooley signed a one-year contract in February of 2014.
Under the American-German's watch, the Azkals had a very busy 2014 as they competed in the AFC Challenge Cup, PFF Philippine Peace Cup, and the AFF Suzuki Cup, managing to finish runner-up in the first two tournaments and make their third straight semifinal appearance in the last one.
In late November, news came out that the PFF and the Azkals Management were already in talks of giving Dooley a contract renewal once his current contract expires in February of 2015.
According to PFF President Mariano Araneta, Azkals manager Dan Palami had already been pushing for Dooley's contract to be renewed. Araneta also stated that they had no problems with giving Dooley a renewal and that they were in agreement with the plans and the direction that the coach had for the Azkals. With the upcoming renewal, the Azkals will again look to Dooley for guidance as they prepare for a very busy 2015 ahead.
