In the latest FIFA World rankings released last February 12, the Philippines is now ranked at 132nd in the world, a three-spot dip from their 129 ranking just a month ago.
As a result, the Philippines now finds itself tied with Vietnam – who managed to move up one spot in the rankings – for the top football nation in Southeast Asia and 16th in whole Asian Football Confederation.
The Azkals have been out of international action since their stint in the 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup late last year, but fret not, Pinoy football fans as our beloved booters are getting ready for busy year ahead, which begins with the World Cup qualifiers, set to take place in late March. They will also be competing in the 2015 PFF Peace Cup which is slated for September.
Should the Azkals do well in their upcoming matches, a move back up in the World Rankings is sure to follow.
Germany still sits at the top of the World Rankings, while Iran remains as the top football nation in Asia.
Let’s continue to support our Azkals as they prepare for a big year ahead!
