Football fans will now have a chance to show their support to the Philippine Azkals in a complete way by donating loose change in the team’s crowdfunding for sports campaign.
The Azkals through the Futbol Pilipinas Azkals Foundation launched a fund raising campaign on Tuesday dubbed “Smalll Change, Big Change” in partnership with supermarket giant Puregold.
Donation cans will be placed at all Puregold counters nationwide to help raise the much-needed funds that the squad will use as they prepare and train for different football tournaments here and abroad.
“I’m happy that they’ve gone beyond just cheering for the team but they actually have this initiative to support the Azkals in a more complete way,” said team manager Dan Palami, who was joined by head coach Thomas Dooley and members of the team in the official launch held at Puregold QI Central at E. Rodriguez, Quezon City.
The campaign is inspired by comments of Azkals fans in Facebook that they wanted to pitch in and help the team financially.
The Azkals receive financial support from the Philippine Football Federation and commercial sponsors but the team will benefit more from the infusion of additional funds coming from the fans and supporters.
“I hope a lot of the fans will support the Azkals in such a way. Kasi actually as we embark in the World Cup qualifiers siguradong mas maraming gastos ‘to and mas maraming resources ang kailangan,” added Palami, who has been bankrolling the team for the past five years with his personal funds.
Additional placements of donation cans are set in key commercial establishments and stores.
