It’s been an up-and-down ride for the Philippine Azkals this year, in terms of the FIFA World Rankings, and this month, the Pinoy booters dropped down to 139th in the world, the lowest ranking they’ve gotten all year.
The move comes after the Azkals kick off their 2015 campaign with an International Friendly loss to Bahrain, 2-1, last March 30.
As a result, the Philippines loses their spot as the top ranked football nation in Southeast Asia, which now belongs to Vietnam who’s ranked at 125th in the world.
With the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers coming up, the Azkals can boost their rankings depending on their performance against their would-be competition.
The World Cup Qualifiers draw is set to take place this coming Tuesday, April 14 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Iran remains as Asia’s top ranked team at 40th in the world, followed by Japan at 50th, and Korea Republic at 57th. Germany, Argentina, and Belguim make up the top-three in the world.
Let’s show our support for our Philippine Azkals as they take on Asia’s best in the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifiers!
