Denis Suarez played hero for Sevilla in their UEFA Europa League Quarterfinals matchup against Zenit at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez in Seville, Spain last Thursday, April 16 (April 17, Manila time).
For a moment, it looked like Zenit was poised to defeat the defending champions as Aleksandr Ryazantsev got things going early for the visitors with a 29th minute goal and the lead going into halftime.
With a heightened sense of urgency, Sevilla stormed back in the second half, started by striker Carlos Bacca’s 73rd minute equalizer.
With just two minutes left in regulation and an impending 1-1 draw, Denis Suarez uncorked an amazing volley from just outside the penalty box to give Sevilla a 2-0 lead and ultimately the victory.

Napoli dominates Wolfsburg
Over at the VfL Wolfsburg Arena in Wolfsburg, Germany, visiting Napoli dominated Wolfsburg, 4-1.
Napoli was on fire from the early going with striker Gonzalo Higuain opening the scoring in the 15th mark of the first half. It didn’t take long for Marek Hamsik to get in on the offense as he pushed Napoli’s advantage to 2-0 in the 23rd minute, giving the visitors a comfortable lead by halftime.
Hamsik wasn’t done yet however, as he completed a brace in the 64th minute to keep Napoli further away from Wolfsburg’s reach.
Manolo Gabbiadini, who came in at the 75th minute, iced the game for Napoli just two minutes later with a 77th minute conversion, making it four-zip for the visitors.
The home team finally pulled one back with ten minutes left in regulation, courtesy of Nicklas Bendtner.
