Misagh Bahadoran and the rest of Global FC have their eyes set on qualifying in the 2015 AFC Cup
Following an historic 4-1 win over Yadanarbon FC last April 15 at the Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan, Global FC will look to carry their momentum into their second leg matchup against AFC Cup Group G leaders South China AA on Wednesday, April 29 at the Mongkok Stadium in Hong Kong.
When Global and South China first met at the Rizal Memorial Football Field back in February, the Hong Kong based squad dominated the home team en route to a 6-1 win. Since then however, Global managed to improve every game, figuring in a draw with Pahang FA and then putting up a challenge in a first leg loss to Yadanarbon FC.
After gaining a measure of revenge against the Myanmar champions, Global now looks to do the same against the unbeaten group leaders.
Qualification will be the key motivator for “The People’s Club”, as according to head coach Leigh Manson, even just a draw could boost Globals chances of qualifying.
Manson: "If we get a draw or win tomorrow, we could still qualify. It will be an exciting game."— Global FC (@GlobalFC_PH) April 28, 2015
South China on the other hand, has continued to dominate the field, winning all four of their matches so far and have already qualified for the next round.
Right now, South China is atop the Group G mountain with 12 points while Pahang FA and Global are tied with four points each, while Yadanarbon trails with three points.
After facing South China, Global heads back home to the Philippines to close out the Group Stages against Pahang FA at the Philippine Sports Stadium on May 13.
