Argentinian sensation Lionel Messi was the man for Barcelona once again, as he led the Catalans to a 3-0 win against visiting Bayern Munich in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals at Camp Nou, Barcelona.

Things were tight in the first 45 minutes of action, as neither club gave up a goal to go into the break at a 0-0 standstill.

With less than 20 minutes left in regulation, Messi went to work, blasting the ball into the back of the net from just outside the penalty box in the 77th mark.

Messi had one more spectacular play to unleash, as three minutes later, he tore through the vistors’ defense and volleyed the ball over Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer to complete the brace and push the home team’s advantage to 2-0.

Neymar put the cherry on top for Barca with a third and final goal off a Messi assist two minutes into injury time.

Bayern will attempt to get back into the fray as the second leg of the Champions League Semis heads to Munich this coming Tuesday, May 12. (May 13, Manila time).
