Schrock out of action for Yemen match
How long will Stephan Schrock be out of action?

Following the Azkals big 2-1 win over Bahrain in last Thursday’s World Cup qualifier match, the team received a bit of bad news as they will be missing the services of starting midfielder Stephan Schrock, who will be out of action due to a knee injury.

Schrock’s highly anticipated return to the Azkals’ lineup was cut short during the first half of the match against Bahrain after his right kneed collided with a Bahraini player’s knee. Schrock stayed on for a bit, trying to play through the apparent injury, but was eventually subbed out midway through the first frame.

During the post-match presser, head coach Thomas Dooley addressed Schroecky’s situation, saying that it was possibly an issue with his knee ligaments.

“I think it’s the ligament inside his knee, he’ll have an MRI to see if it’s torn, but I’m pretty sure he won’t be able to play for the next meeting.”

Schrock made the trip to Doha for the Azkals’ next match against Yemen, but revealed on Twitter that he’ll be leaving the team due to the said injury.

While the injury will serve as a blow to the team, they’ll be riding high from the momentum of the win against Bahrain, and with a deep bench, there will be a handful of guys that are ready and willing to step up for the country.

The Azkals face Yemen this coming Tuesday, June 16, 11:45 pm at the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha. You can catch the action LIVE on ABS-CBN Sports + Action channel 23!
