Philippine Azkals look to take down Bahrain again
MORE MISAGH MAGIC? Can Misagh Bahadoran become the x-factor against Bahrain again?

Riding the momentum of their impressive draw against Group H leaders North Korea last October 8, the Philippine Azkals head to the pitch once again, this time in the Middle East as they play the Bahraini national team at the Bahrain National Stadium on Tuesday, October 13.

The last time that these two squads met, they kicked the action off in Group H, with the Azkals defeating the visiting Al-Ahmar, 2-1 at the Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan, with Misagh Bahadoran and Javier Patino scoring for the home team.

Since then, the Azkals won against Yemen, lost to Uzbekistan, and held North Korea to a scoreless draw, good for third place with seven points in four games played.

Bahrain on the hand, has lost all but one of their four World Cup Qualifiers matches, most recently getting blasted by Uzbekistan also last Octber 8. They currently sit at fourth place, below the Philippines with three points.

The Azkals head into Riffa with the confidence of being the only team so far to hold the group leaders to a draw, while also knowing that they’ve already gotten the better of this Bahraini team before. Still, the Pinoy booters will be heading into hostile territory yet again, and leaving with a win won’t be as easy.

Some good news from the Philippine Football Federation’s website however, as defender Simone Rota, who missed out on the Uzbekistan and North Korea matches will be joining the team in Bahrain to complete the 23-man lineup.

This will be the final stop in the Azkals’ international tour this year, as they head back to the Philippines for their last World Cup Qualifiers match of the year when they host Yemen on Thursday, November 12 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
