While the Philippine Azkals may be on break, another Filipino football team will be looking to bring glory to the country, as former UFL champions Global FC look to bounce back as they take on Japan’s Albirex Niigata in the second leg of the RHB Singapore Cup, Tuesday evening.
Global FC is bannered by current and former national team members including skipper Misagh Bahadoran, Daisuke Sato, Amani Aguinaldo, Dennis Villanueva, Patrick Deyto, Jason De Jong, Mark Hartmann, and Paolo Bugas.
“The People’s Club” is currently behind a goal on aggregate, with Albirex taking the first game, 1-0, courtesy of Rion Taki.
This won’t be the first time that Global will be playing catchup, as they were in the same position in the quarterfinals against Geylang International. Global advanced by beating Geylang, 4-1 in the second leg.
Should the Pinoy club advance, they will face either DPMM Brunei FC or Home United FC in the Finals. DPMM Brunei leads, 3-2, on aggregate as of posting.
Kickoff time is at 7:30 pm.
