Even though Filipino club Global FC couldn’t get past Japan’s Albirex Niigata in the RHB Singapore Cup semifinals, they’ll have one more chance to make the country proud as they battle DPMM Brunei for third place on Friday afternoon.
Only being down 0-1 on aggregate heading into the second leg of the semifinals, Global FC couldn’t close the gap, as the Japanese side pulled away, defeating the Pinoys, 2-1 in the second match courtesy of goals from Atushi Kawata and Rion Taki to advance into the finals.
Matthew Hartmann scored the lone goal for 'The People's Club."
DPMM Brunei bowed to Home United, 4-3 on aggregate in the other Singapore Cup Semifinals pairing.
