FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) — Schalke eased past Hannover 3-1 in the Bundesliga on Friday to end a five-match winless streak.

All Schalke goals came in the second half, although the home side dominated almost from the kickoff.

Johannes Gleis converted a penalty in the 51st after Marcelo had downed Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. Huntelaar doubled the lead in the 73rd, with a volley from close range, before substitute Allan Saint-Maximin pulled one back for Hannover in the 81st. Substitute Franco di Santo secured Schalke's victory when he headed in a ball punched out by goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler.

The victory put Schalke provisionally in fourth place although Borussia Moenchengladbach and Hertha Berlin can move ahead with wins on Saturday.

Moenchengladbach hosts runaway leader Bayern Munich and Berlin plays Bayer Leverkusen at home.
