Mariano Suba burned the back of the net with six goals to lead the Pirates to an emphatic win over the Generals.
Lyceum of the Philippines University routed Emilio Aguinaldo College, 12-0, Tuesday to stay in the semifinals hunt in the 91st NCAA football tournament at the Rizal Memorial Football field.
Mariano Suba unloaded a match-best six goals while Beejay Gonzales and Christopher Villanueva scored a brace apiece to help the Pirates capture their second victory against three defeats.
LPU is now half a game behind EAC (2-2) and could clinch the fourth and last spot to the semis if it could end up tied with the latter since the former owns a better goal differential, -22 to -26.
Noli Dollentes and Zynadyne Penaflor were the other goal scorers for the Pirates.
Reigning titlists San Beda and College of St. Benilde currently lead the tournament with immaculate 4-0 cards although the Lions own a better goal differential than the Blazers, 58-54.
Arellano U is at No. 3 with a 4-1 slate.
