The improvement could provide a much-needed momentum boost for the Pinoy booters
The Philippine Men's National Football Team opens 2016 with some good news as they improve to 135th in the world in the first FIFA World Rankings report of 2016.
The Azkals closed out 2015 ranked at 139th in the world after falling short in three of their last four World Cup Qualifiers matches, including a heartbreaking loss to Yemen.
Currently seated at third place in Group H with two wins, one draw, and three losses, they'll be playing out the remainder of the World Cup Qualifiers this coming March with a game in Tashkent against Uzbekistan on March 24 and then back here at home against North Korea on March 29.
Currently ranked as the best football nation in Southeast Asia, Thailand climbs even higher to 121st after ending 2015 at 133rd in the world. The Thai national team is currently unbeaten in their World Cup campaign at four wins and one draw and sits atop Group F.
BELGIUM REMAINS AT THE TOP
Belgium begins 2016 as the world's number one football nation, followed by Argentina, Spain, Germany and Chile.
Powerhouses Brazil, Portugal, Colombia, England, and Austria round out the top ten.
