Reigning UFL champions and Bacolod-based football club Ceres-La Salle FC fly into enemy territory as they try to pounce on home team Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Tuesday evening at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The pride of Bacolod heads into their second AFC Cup match with tons of momentum after holding Malaysian champions Selangor FA to an exciting 2-2 draw that saw the Pinoys mount a comeback in front of a jubilant Negrense crowd in the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod just a couple of weeks ago.
Newly-signed fan favorite and Philippine Azkals standout Stephan Schrock immediately showed what a difference-maker he is by scoring the first goal for Ceres, and then assisted on the last-minute equalizer by Adrian Gallardo.
Schrock and Gallardo are only two of the names to watch on a stacked Ceres-La Salle club that features Azkals standouts Juani Guirado (Ceres team captain), Kevin Ingreso, Manny Ott, Patrick Reichelt, and Paul Mulders among others.
Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi on the other hand, will try to bounce back after getting drubbed by current group leaders, Singapore’s Tampines Rovers. The Singaporean champions hosted the Bangladeshi club and beat them down to the tune of four goals to none. Team captain and Bangladesh national team member Nasiruddin Chowdhury will be leading the charge for the Bangladesh Football Premiere League champions.
The trip to Bangladesh marks the start of a two-game trip for Ceres-La Salle, as they fly to Singapore for their match against the Tampines Rovers on the 15th.
