OJ Porteria (10) and KAYA FC try to get another important win at home

An inspired KAYA FC side will look to get another important win at home as they take on Singaporean visitors Balestier Khalsa FC in the Group Stage of the 2016 AFC Cup, Tuesday evening at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.

The Makati City-based KAYA FC heads into their third Group Stage match with a ton of momentum after scoring a dramatic win against Maldivian side New Radiant SC just last week, courtesy of national team call-up OJ Porteria, who put one through with just seconds left in the match.

Even though the Pinoys are riding high from their first ever AFC Cup win, Porteria knows that their upcoming test against Balestier Khalsa won’t be an easy outing.

“It’s gonna be very difficult, and we’re gonna have to be better than we were tonight,” Portieria said following last week’s win.

Porteria and the 2015 UFL Cup champs currently find themselves tied with Hong Kong’s Kitchee SC for second place with one win and one loss for three points each. A win tonight against pushes KAYA either first or second place in Group F, depending on the result of Kitchee’s match against New Radiant FC.

Currently seated at the top spot of the group, Balestier Khalsa heads enemy territory with a bit of momentum as well after taking down Kitchee FC last week at home. The former Singapore Cup champions were held to a draw by New Radiant in their first Group Stage assignment. A win tonight will only strengthen their hold on the top of the group.
